Mitsotakis to Sakellaropoulou about Avgenakis: Such behaviors are not tolerated, they damage the trust of the citizens

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou had their first meeting at the Presidential Mansion after the European elections, as part of their regular monthly briefings. The Prime Minister addressed daily issues, placing particular emphasis on the high cost of living.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis also made a special reference to the incident involving Lefteris Avgenakis, without naming him explicitly. He explained that such behaviors are not tolerated. He also emphasized that these behaviors by those in power give the impression that politicians are a different breed, thereby damaging citizens’ trust in politicians.

The Prime Minister spoke about the new hirings in Education, describing them as an important reform that helps the human resources. Additionally, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized the new investments in Public Transportation. Recently, as he mentioned, he visited the depot in Rentis and saw firsthand the first electric buses that will be put into circulation.

The Prime Minister reminded that today marks 9 years since the 2015 referendum, which he said was a crescendo of populism.

For her part, Katerina Sakellaropoulou said that trust and a sense of security are fundamental for citizens. Speaking about the high cost of living, she explained that it must be combated, while access to public Health, Education, and Transportation is very important for citizens.

Ms. Sakellaropoulou also mentioned the significant housing problem that many teachers face when appointed far from their homes.

Finally, she referred to the conference held last week in Thrace, noting that policies must be designed according to needs and emphasized that young people can help in addressing the Climate Crisis.
