Kerameos: The government has made the protection of labor rights for working mothers a priority

"We are extending maternity leave," Expressed the Minister of Labour and Social Security

Newsroom July 11 02:25

“Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ administration has made the protection of labor rights for working mothers a priority,” said the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Niki Kerameos, in a post on her personal social media account.

“In 2022 we extended the maternity leave from 6 to 9 months and in 2023 we expanded the benefit to include, for the first time in history, self-employed women, freelancers, and farmers in the 9-month maternity leave.

We are now coming forward and extending maternity leave to include working mothers in NGOs, banks, and media. This measure has retroactive effect from 25/11/2022,” Ms Kerameos said.
