High temperatures continue to be recorded by the network of meteo.gr/National Observatory of Athens automatic weather stations for the 9th consecutive day. As shown in the map in the image below, the maximum temperature on Tuesday (16/7) was recorded in Gavalou, Etoloakarnania and was equal to 41.5°C. This marks the 9th consecutive day of maximum temperatures above 40°C in the country.
In addition, the average maximum temperature in the country was equal to 35.1°C, while 168 of the 507 active stations (at the present time) recorded temperatures above 37°C, of which 17 recorded temperatures above 40°C.
Generally clear weather. In the midday and afternoon hours, occasional clouds will develop on the mainland and local rain or isolated thunderstorms will occur in the mountains, mainly in the northwest of the country. Winds will blow from the north from 3 to 5 Beaufort, in the Aegean Sea 6 and locally 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will reach very high levels. In terms of maximum values, it is expected to reach 41 to 42 degrees Celsius in the interior of the mainland and 43 degrees Celsius in some places in the west, central and north, 38 to 40 degrees Celsius in the Ionian Sea, the East Aegean islands, the Dodecanese and southern Crete and 35 to 37 degrees Celsius in the rest of the island country. As for the minimum values, it is expected to be around 27 to 29 degrees Celsius in most areas.
