There was tension in the European Parliament yesterday, just before the vote for the election of the President of the European Commission, caused by the speech of Polish right-wing MEP Ewa Zajączkowska. She verbally attacked Ursula von der Leyen, telling her that “with what she has done, her place is in jail and not in the Commission.”

Specifically, Zajączkowska said in her speech: “Mrs. von der Leyen, it is time for someone to directly tell you what the overwhelming majority of citizens think of you. You are the face of the European Green Deal, which is destroying the European economy and turning Europe into an open-air museum, which is destroying agriculture and driving Europe into economic stagnation. You are the face of climate madness, which leads us Europeans to become increasingly poor. Finally, you are the face of the migration law, and I address you as a woman to a woman and as a mother to a mother. How can you not be ashamed of promoting something like the Migration Pact, which leads millions of women and children to feel threatened in their own cities? You are responsible for every rape, every attack, and every tragedy caused by illegal immigrants, because you are the one inviting these people to Europe. And for what you have done, you should go to jail and not to the European Commission.”

“You know what we think about your European Green Deal? This. You know what we think about the Migration Pact? This!” she added emphatically, tearing up two pieces of paper.

At that moment, Roberta Metsola intervened, trying to interrupt her, saying that her time was up, while von der Leyen watched her with a smirk.
