More than 1,800 cannabis seedlings have been found by officers of the Drug Enforcement Agency Patras inside an organized cannabis plantation in the forest area of Vardousia, Fokida, while the growers are wanted for arrest.
According to the Police, the harvest from the cultivation of the 1,838 seedlings found would have amounted to about 920 kilos of cannabis, while the illegal financial benefit from the cultivation and trafficking of cannabis ranges from 1,836,000 euros to 2,746,000 euros.
As for the chronology of the case, after the evaluation of the data gathered by the Drug Prosecution of Patras, an operation followed, in which police officers of the SWAT team and the Lidorikiou department also participated.
During the police operation, the organized plantation was located in a specially designed area, surrounded by dense forest vegetation and divided into five levels.
Furthermore, the cultivators had installed a makeshift watering mechanism with two tanks of 500 litres each, while inside the plantation they had erected two makeshift wooden shelters and pitched three tents.
The police officers of the Patras Narcotics Department are continuing investigations into the case and the arrest of the cultivators, while the case file will be submitted to the prosecutor of the Amfissa Prefecture.
