As announced by the Municipality of Agia Paraskevi, following a decision by Mayor Yiannis Mylonakis, the closed gymnasium in Kontopouki (Dorieon 20 and Kanari) will be open from today and for as long as needed to assist in accommodating fire victims who have been displaced from their homes due to the severe wildfire in Attica and require temporary shelter.

The Municipality’s Civil Protection mechanism remains on 24-hour alert, as there is a very high risk of fire today according to the daily Fire Risk Prediction Map from the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

The municipal authorities have announced that access to Mount Hymettus is prohibited for preventive reasons.
