The court’s decision was acquitted after the prosecutor’s suggestion for the two Italian skippers accused of setting the sailing group on fire on the beach of Antipaxous.
According to ERT, both Italians apologized to the Greek authorities for the fire, claiming that they were unaware of the complete ban due to the fire protection period. Their rushing to put out the fire as soon as they were informed that it was illegal was a catalyst for their acquittal.
Both are employees of a boat rental company. The sailing boats were rented by a group of young Italians in their home country and arrived in the Northern Ionian Sea for a short holiday.
