A 69-year-old local man was arrested yesterday, Monday, September 9, by officers of the Sea Department of Zakynthos, under the spontaneous procedure, for violation of the laws on animal welfare and on weapons.

Specifically, in the context of examining a complaint, the 69-year-old man was identified and arrested by police officers as in the early hours of yesterday, in the area of Agia Marina of Zakynthos, he shot and wounded a dog belonging to a local resident with the use of a hunting weapon.

As part of the preliminary investigation, conducted by the Police Department of Alykes they confiscated the shotgun used by the 69-year-old perpetrator, which, as it was found, he possessed illegally, while, in addition, the administrative fine of 50,000 euros was also established against him.

The arrested man was taken to the prosecutor of the Zakynthos Plenary Court.
