The Chronicle
.

It all happened during just the third song that she performed, the notorious “Words are Unnecessary” one of her biggest hits. On the lyric “My God you taught us how much to love” the 86-year-old performer collapsed unconscious on stage and her musicians immediately rushed to her aid.

The audience froze at the incident and remained in their seats for some time until the production was notified that the concert was permanently postponed. That’s when the audience began to leave the Herodeion, and the talk was all about what happened to the great lady of Greek song.

An eyewitness from the second row said that from the beginning it seemed that she was not stepping well on stage, while in the third song, she was not looking at the crowd at all but at the monitor. Which seemed odd, since “Words are Unnecessary” is a song he knows inside and out and has performed dozens of times.
