Alexis Tsipras made comparisons to a referendum that never took place in Greece, after all that has been shown in the first round of local elections. Commenting on the Prime Minister’s statements, Alexis Tsipras stated that Mr. Samaras accepted that based on the voting result, the European elections ballot box undermines his “government of Memoranda”.

As stated by SYRIZA president, there is no history of a previous government party being out of the second round of the largest region and municipality of the country.

According to Mr. Tsipras, the result of the first Sunday in several major cities and regions highlights SYRIZA as a strong player in regional politics, creating a self-governing map.

“New week, Athens and Attica, will surpass every poll and prediction, and turn the page”, continued Mr. Tsipras.

He sent a call to all citizens to enlist “because the struggle for dignity is the struggle of all Greeks”, stressing that “we must face the preaching of abstinence and fraud with democratic participation”.

“Today is the first step for next Sunday to become the first day of a bygone era”, continued the president of SYRIZA, explaining that the country must send a message to the whole world, underlining that “the more people that sign up, the stronger the message that Greece is entitled to adapt its own policy with the first criterion being the interest of the people, will be”.

“The vote will not only count, but it will change this land”, concluded Alexis Tsipras.
