Kaminis for mayor and Sgouros for Regional Governor. These are the obvious choices of the government for the second round of local elections in Athens and Attica, as the government spokesman revealed.
Speaking on SKAI TV station, Simos Kedikoglou stressed that “it would be irrational to support those who seek to overthrow the government”, excluding any possibility of support for Gabriel Sakellaridis and Rena Dourou.
Mr. Kedikoglou also expressed his amazement about the percentages received by Golden Dawn in Attica, despite the recent revelations regarding the actions of its members. He stressed that the government will intensify its efforts to inform the world about the true nature of Golden Dawn party until next Sunday when the second round of local elections will be held.
Referring to the European elections, Mr. Kedikoglou urged the Greek people to vote for “maintaining stability and staying on the path that leads out of the crisis.”

SYRIZA : Eliminated from the second round in nine regions
Although Rena Dourou, SYRIZA’s candidate, has the lead in Attica region, things are quite different regarding the percentages received by the political forces in the first round of local elections in the rest of Greece. SYRIZA’s candidates have received disproportionately small percentages based to the data released so far and the main opposition party will participate in the second round only in the regions of Attica, the Ionian Islands and Central Greece.
In most cases candidates from the ruling parties (PASOK, ND) have a significant lead, while the ones of SYRIZA are left out the second round.

Most municipalities also became a “Waterloo” for SYRIZA
A similar situation is recorded in most major cities with candidates supported by SYRIZA being eliminated from the second round.
This is the case in Piraeus, Patras (where the candidate of the Communist Party has the lead), Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Crete, Alexandroupolis, Serres , Ioannina, Rhodes, Chania, Ioannina, etc.
