Shortly after 19:10, the bride arrived at the church to applause and immediately kissed Haris Doukas.
The mayor of Athens, who was a candidate for the PASOK leadership, arrived at the church around 18:30 to await his beloved. As seen in the video, before walking up the church steps, Mr. Doukas received well-wishes from guests and attendees in the courtyard. “I am very happy,” he can be heard saying to the crowd, adding, “We’re waiting for the bride.”

The wedding of Haris Doukas and Georgia Polytanou is officiated by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos, along with the Metropolitan of Thebes, Livadeia, and Avlida, Georgios.
Among those attending the wedding were PASOK president Nikos Androulakis, Haris Doukas’ fellow candidates for the PASOK leadership—Anna Diamantopoulou, Pavlos Geroulanos, and Nadia Giannakopoulou—as well as his rival for the mayoralty of Athens and former SYRIZA MP, Kostas Zachariadis.
PASOK MPs attending the ceremony included Milena Apostolaki, Manolis Christodoulakis, Dimitris Mantzos, Katerina Kazani, Paris Koukoulopoulos, Evangelia Liakouli, Giorgos Moulkiotis, and former Minister Kostas Skandalidis, as well as Panagiotis Vlachos, a member of the party. Also present was former SYRIZA MP and Athens mayoral candidate Gavriil Sakellaridis.
Among the mayors attending were Lambros Sklavounos of Aigaleo and Grigoris Konstantellos of Vari, Voula, and Vouliagmeni.
The best men (koumparoi) for Haris Doukas and Georgia Polytanou were Lazaros Karaoulis, a member of PASOK’s Central Committee and close associate of the Mayor of Athens, Ioanna Christopoulou-Konti, a friend of the bride, and Konstantinos Pandis, one of Mr. Doukas’ closest collaborators.
