A preliminary inquiry and an Administrative Inquiry will be conducted into the circumstances and causes of the accident that caused the death of one firefighter and the injury of another firefighter, due to the overturning of a fire truck during a patrol, near the area of Kochikia in the municipality of Mantoudiou – Lake – Agia Anna, in Euboea, according to a statement from the Fire Department.

Today, Friday, 01 November 2024, at noon, the P.S. 2088 vehicle of the Mantoudiou Fire Brigade staffed with two Firefighters, during a patrol, overturned near the area of Kotsikia in the municipality of Mantoudiou – Lake – Agia Anna, in Evia.

One firefighter was rescued from the fire truck, injured, while the second one was pulled out unconscious by firefighters from the fire brigade of the fire brigade of Istiaiaia, the fire brigade of Mantoudiou and the fire brigade of Limni.

Both firefighters were transported by ambulances of E.K.A.B. to the Mantoudiou Health Center, where the death of the driver of the fire truck, Firefighter of Five Years’ Service Ioannis Paliovrysiotis, age 54, was determined.

The second Firefighter of Five-Year Obligation was evacuated by a Fire Corps helicopter, which transported him to the helipad of the “SAKETA” camp and was then transferred by ambulance to the 251 General Aviation Hospital.

For the circumstances and causes of the accident that caused the death of one and the injury of another Fire Officer, a preliminary investigation and an Administrative Inquiry will be conducted.
