According to the so far available information the meeting between the Greek delegation and Troika did not go well at all, since Troika insists on requirements and part of the European Union shows no willingness to support Greece.

According to a  Government source the IMF representative acted as if he did not want to agree to anything by rejecting the evidence cited by the Greek side and even sometimes changing positions and increasing demands.

Greece was taken by surprise since firmly believed that the distance with Troika would have been covered.

Naturally, processes will continue over the  phone and video conferencing.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister will have telephone conversations with EU officials and his counterparts.

It is also obvious that the deadlock can be overcome by a political decision, which however Berlin and Brussels are not willing to offer, at least for now

More generally, the EU seems to be reluctant to cover its own commitments as the one of  debt relief.

It is extremely unlikely that the Greece government will accept the requirements of Troika.

There is no way that fiscal measures of 2.5 billion euro, reducing pensions and complete dissolution of the working framework will go through Parliament.

In a scenario that government majority in Parliament votes on the settings, the government will collapse. Such a burdensome agreement will constitute proof of failure.

Despite the negative atmosphere, government still hopes for a last minute agreement. In this context, government officials support that Troika is not only against the Greek government  but against the whole country. Further they note that developments concern the opposition as well.

Following today’s developments the possibility of an agreement by the end of December has vanished.

The EU Summit on the 18th of December will be a great challenge for the Greek Prime Minister.

Already there are estimates that the deadlock  triggered political developments of a broader consensus.

However it is clear that the affords made by government to earn  the support of the EU and to exclude the possibility of SYRIZA coming to power, was unsuccessful.

Instead, the EU has followed a policy of weakening the government.
