Milking the Christmas Tree

Evaporated milk Christmas trees aim to help those in need in Athens and Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki

The Doctors of the World are inviting Greeks help create a Christmas tree of evaporated milk cans on December 12  so that all children have their cups full over the Christmas season. “A small but significant gesture of love in a period when our county is having a humanitarian crisis and we are all in need of collectively doing something for those who need it,” says the announcement for the event. “Last year, participation surpassed every expectation. Over 55,000 cans of milk and four tons of food from around Greece were collected.”

The organizers are expecting citizens at Thessaloniki’s Aristotelous Square from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
