The Trump administration's new health secretary has been denouncing for years the obesity epidemic that plagues the US which needs to be addressed

A few days after promising to “restore America’s health,” elected President Donald Trump, alongside the man being tipped for the position of Health Secretary in his administration, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., were photographed with humor devouring hamburgers and French fries from the McDonald’s chain.

“Make America Healthy Again starts TOMORROW,” was the caption that Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the mogul, posted on Instagram with a photo from the dinner, taken aboard his father’s aircraft, which also included billionaire Elon Musk and the outgoing Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson.

Trump, his son, Musk, and Kennedy went to New York City on Saturday night to attend a mixed martial arts (MMA) event at Madison Square Garden.

Kennedy, a political heir of the famous Democratic dynasty, participated in Trump’s campaign before the presidential elections on November 5, promising, among other things, to take on the processed food industry.

“For far too long, Americans have been crushed by the food industry and the pharmaceutical companies,” Trump emphasized last Thursday while announcing his intention to appoint Kennedy.

On social media, many noted that the future Health Secretary appeared to be the least enthusiastic and least smiling among the diners.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a 70-year-old lawyer specializing in environmental issues, has for years been denouncing the obesity epidemic that continues to plague the U.S., which must be addressed by reducing high levels of sugar, fat, and processed ingredients in the national diet.

Last week, he made highly sarcastic comments about the diet of his future political superior, Trump. “What he eats is really bad,” he said in a podcast with Joe Polis, specifically criticizing the menu offered on the Republican mogul’s plane.

“Food on campaign trails is always bad, but for anyone boarding (Trump’s) plane, it’s real poison,” he said. “You have no choice, they give you either KFC or a Big Mac,” he explained.
