On Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Commissioner-designate for Transport and Tourism was mentioned by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her speech in the European Parliament, where she presented the Commission’s priorities for the next five years, asking for the vote of confidence of MEPs.
Referring to the “clean” and “competitive” economy, von der Leyen expressed her satisfaction that the Greek commissioner will also contribute to this with the portfolio he has been given. “Apostolos Tzitzikostas will be responsible for transport and tourism. His vast experience from the European regions will be invaluable for the development of connectivity.” Von der Leyen also announced that she has decided to convene a strategic dialogue on the future of the automotive industry in Europe. “The dialogue and its follow-up will be under my leadership. We will gather all stakeholders around the table, listen to each other, and design solutions together as this industry goes through a deep and disruptive transition. Europe’s automotive industry is European pride. Millions of jobs depend on it. And together we need to ensure that the future of cars continues to be made in Europe.”Commission President
