Israel’s Foreign Ministry today dismissed as “completely fabricated” an Amnesty International report accusing the Israeli state of “committing genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

“The vile and bigoted Amnesty International organization has once again produced a completely fabricated report, wrong in its entirety and based on lies,” an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman said in a statement.

“The genocidal massacre of October 7, 2023 was committed by the Hamas terrorist organization against Israeli citizens. Since then, Israeli citizens have been subjected to daily attacks from seven different fronts. Israel is defending itself against these attacks, acting in full compliance with international law,” he continued.

Amnesty International today released a report accusing Israel of “committing genocide” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip after the start of the war on October 7, 2023, and calling on the international community not to be “complicit” in it.

“Month after month, Israel treats the Palestinians in Gaza as a group of sub-humans whose human rights and dignity do not deserve to be respected, demonstrating its intention to physically destroy them,” said Amnesty International’s secretary general, Anies Kalamar.

The report, which runs to 300 pages, presents “sufficient evidence to conclude that Israel has committed and continues to commit genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip” following Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israel in October 2023, which triggered the war.

The Hamas attack killed 1,208 people in Israel, the majority of them civilians, according to an AFP count of official figures that included hostages killed or died in captivity.

At least 44,532 people have been killed in Gaza since the war began, according to Hamas health ministry figures, the majority of them women and children.
