The new president will be voted by parliament.

According to the official announcement of the government representative Ms Sophia Voultepsi, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and Deputy PM Evangelos Venizelos, after filling in the current President of the Hellenic Republic, asked the Parliament president to speed up the vote for a new president. The first voting round will take place on Wednesday, December 17th, 2014.

The second round of voting will take place on the 22nd of December and the third on the 27th.

Furthermore, the announcement  refers to  Eurogroup which  acknowledged the efforts and achievements of our country and agreed on the ‘page break’ and the transition of Greece in the new institutional framework of the precautionary credit line (ECCL).
