USA – Bloomberg: Trump sends special envoy to Kyiv for negotiations – Open to visiting Moscow

Keith Kellogg, a retired general who served in national security roles during Trump’s first administration, will visit Kyiv next month, while he also plans trips to London, Paris, and Rome regarding the Ukraine issue

Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia plans to visit Kyiv next month and is open to holding meetings in Moscow if invited, Bloomberg reports, as the new administration aims to end the nearly three-year war as soon as possible.

Keith Kellogg, a retired general who served in national security roles during Trump’s first term, also plans to travel to London, Paris, and Rome, according to a source familiar with the situation, while the plans have not yet been finalized.

Earlier, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Kellogg will visit Kyiv and several European capitals in early January “as the new U.S. administration seeks to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible.” The agency noted that the retired general does not plan to visit Moscow.

Bloomberg notes that “Kellogg’s openness to traveling to Moscow would be an extraordinary move for a U.S. official amidst a series of sanctions imposed on Russia since February 2022.”

Trump had previously promised that he could achieve a resolution to the Ukraine conflict through negotiations. He has repeatedly stated that he would be able to resolve the conflict in Ukraine “in one day.” In Russia, they believe this is a very complicated issue, and the solution cannot be that simple.
