The 33-year-old Frenchman who shockingly killed the unfortunate Rania Bournelis outside her home on a road between Kokkini Hani and Anopolis in Heraklion was brought before the prosecutor on Thursday morning.
Security measures were draconian to avoid incidents. In fact, when a friend of the 36-year-old tried to approach the 33-year-old Frenchman, police officers immediately removed him.
Rania’s brother arrived in court and asked “to respect our pain and not to put whatever you want”. “All those responsible should pay for what they have done. They should not let everyone out and put people in danger. We’re going to go all the way so that no more blood is spilled. Let no one else go through what we are going through,” added the 36-year-old’s brother.
In a parallel development, the family of the 36-year-old woman filed a lawsuit against all those responsible “in order to expand the criminal liability of all those involved in this fatal outcome brought about by this particular defendant.”
“The family wants the knife to reach the bone will not only stop at attributing criminal responsibility – whatever it may be – to the accused, but also asks that even the doctors who a few days ago were summoned by the Rethymnon police station, whose officers initiated the procedure of involuntary hospitalization, be checked. This procedure requires the examination by two expert doctors, one of whom has already made statements to the media,” added the lawyer for the 36-year-old woman’s family.
The Frenchman had been arrested six times in one year
As cretapost reports, over a year ago the 33-year-old had been arrested six times. Several lawsuits have been filed against him, mainly dealing with domestic violence, insult, threats and in one case he had attacked a police officer!
In December 2023 in the Neapolis area, he insulted a police officer during a checkpoint and was arrested while authorities found an axe in his car, which they confiscated.
In early April 2024, his companion, originally from Bulgaria, went to the Rethymno police station and filed a complaint against the 33-year-old as he insulted her, threatened her and then stole her bag containing her mobile phone, money and various personal documents.
In the middle of the same month and again in Rethymno, his partner sued again for insulting and threatening both her and a Greek man.
In September 2024 in Lassithi, the 33-year-old argued with a 60-year-old man while he did not hesitate to throw stones at the table where he was sitting, causing damage. He then hit him on the head and when the policeman arrived to arrest him, he attacked and beat him.
On November 22, 2024 his partner reported to authorities that he called her and began threatening her whereupon she fearing for her life reported him.
On November 29, 2024 he was arrested for the sixth time as his partner reported to authorities that he was stalking her and became obsessed with her. Police officers arrested him and then the prosecutor referred him for a psychiatric evaluation.
