Bad weather: Five-kilometer queue in Arachova – Drivers “stuck” in the snow, they had no chains (videos-photos)

The traffic jam has been created on the road to Livadi and the Ski Resort - Snowplows are trying to open the road

Newsroom December 25 06:52

A major traffic jam with a five-kilometer queue was created on Wednesday afternoon in Arachova due to a sudden blizzard that hit the area.

Drivers moving on the road to Livadi and the Snowfield did not have anti-slip chains or snow blankets with them, making it impossible to move. Thus, they got stuck on the spot, causing – apparently – problems for drivers who were following, having taken the precaution of purchasing anti-slip equipment for their vehicles.

Vehicle traffic has been temporarily stopped to prevent more cars from getting stuck, while snowplows are already operating to clear the road and “unstick” the stalled cars.

Meanwhile, the Regional Unity of Boeotia and specifically the deputy regional governor of Boeotia Giorgos Dasiotis appeal to drivers visiting Arachova, but also the mountainous destinations in general, to be equipped with anti-slip chains and to move with them even if they estimate that the snow is scarce.
