The tree of unemployment, poverty, misery and public sell-offs currently adorns the intersection of Aristotelous and Tsimiski streets at Thessaloniki. The ceremonious decoration of the tree took place on Saturday evening as school guards, fired workers from the former state radio and television station, struggling cleaners and other workers who felt the spirit of solidarity with those who are unemployed joined in and sang tweaked Christmas carols.
The event was attended by Joanna Gaitani and Despina Charalambidis, MPs from the main opposition Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) party, who wanted to show their solidarity.
