In an exceptionally warm atmosphere, yesterday’s meeting between the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni and the outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Greece, George Tsunis, marked the end of a period of close collaboration while simultaneously laying the groundwork for continued joint initiatives in the future.
A notable example of this productive cooperation is the organization of an international conference in Athens on combating antiquities trafficking, scheduled for this coming fall, in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Greece.
“Through George Tsunis, I bid farewell not only to an excellent Ambassador but also to a dear friend. The cooperation programs between the Ministry of Culture and the U.S. Embassy in Athens have been numerous and fruitful. I am confident they will continue in the future,” said Lina Mendoni.
Also present at the meeting was Ms. Maria Olson, the U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, who emphasized the importance of maintaining steadfast collaboration between the two sides.
