Approximately 80 trucks have been immobilized in Derveni, Thessaloniki, for several hours as the Traffic Police halted them due to a driving ban implemented because of the snowfall.

As of this Tuesday morning, the road remains closed for heavy vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of over 3.5 tons, leaving drivers exasperated.

“They stopped us the night before last. I’ve been stuck here for 32 hours. They stopped us on the assumption that the road would reopen at 6:00 a.m. yesterday. As a precaution, because it had snowed, and they were afraid of icy conditions,” says Nikos Mandalis, a truck driver, speaking to OPEN.
