Newsroom January 20 09:55

A different scene of fee abolitions and reductions incentives will be experienced from today by customers of banks as the interventions announced by the government come into effect.

By tomorrow, Tuesday, banks’ software will have been adjusted so that:

– for bill payments either through standing order or e-banking, commissions will be zero.

– for transfers, the maximum charge per transaction for bank-to-bank transfers of up to €5,000 will be set at €0.50.

– no fee should be charged for the loading of prepaid cards up to EUR 100 per day if carried out via digital networks.

– zero commission for cash withdrawals in remote municipalities where there is only one bank ATM.
