After the “blackout” on North Korea’s internet for nine hours and after commitments by US President Barack Obama to retaliate after the cyber attack on Sony, the State Department requests compensation from Pyongyang for the damage caused to the company.
According to the representative of the US State Department, North Korea must pay compensation for the damage caused to Sony, after hackers attacked, aiming to cancel the screening of the film “The Interview”, which satirizes the country’s dictator, Kim Jong-un.
“If they want to help, then let them admit their guilt and compensate Sony for the harm caused”, said the Statement Department, which, however, did not signify the exact amount North Korea would have to pay.
The statements of the US president were clear that he was going to see this as a series of cyber-vandalism, but not an act of war.
