After the success of the first event, the Onassis Cultural Centre is organizing new seminars, for children with autism.
These two workshops invite children to come into creative contact with music, rhythm and role playing, and to become acquainted with various musical instruments.
Music is used as a communication tool, even when speech is not there. The child is invited, through music, to feel its existence, express its feelings, sing, play and listen to many different kinds of music.
In a safe environment, the children -through music- will be able to experience the sense of teamwork. To cooperate and prepare for the ultimate goal of the workshops, which is an interactive music concert, a music festival where the children are the performers. The presence of parents is essential through the workshops, and their role will be defined by themselves. The parent can be an observer or actively participate in all activities.
Each educational program will be completed in six meeting. The music activities are specifically designed, in order to adapt to the specific desires and abilities of the children involved therein. The first meeting is only for parents who will be accompanying their children to the music workshop.
The workshops will be held by musicologist and music therapist Christina Panagiotakis and special education teacher Aravella Babatsika-Anastasaki, along with a group of musicians.
