Lawyer Vasilis Kapernaros referred to new video footage capturing the freight train moments before the fatal collision in Tempi.
Kapernaros, who represents a company responsible for securing OSE’s (Hellenic Railways Organization) facilities, stated that they located and handed over to the investigator three videos clearly depicting the freight train just minutes before the crash, exiting the Tempi tunnel.
“There are three videos that confirm the exact point and time of passage—through the Platamonas tunnel, from the Rapsani information control center to the Tempi tunnel, and from the Rapsani control center to the Tempi tunnel’s emergency exit. The footage includes precise timestamps down to the minute and second,” he explained in an interview with SKAI radio.
According to Kapernaros, “the entire freight train is visible in the footage, including all its wagons.” A few hours later, journalist Aris Portosalte shared a video provided by Kapernaros on Platform X.
“As per our obligation after being summoned by the investigator, we submitted this evidence,” he noted, emphasizing that “the material is crystal clear to the average person and is now part of the case file. Anyone who watches it will see the truth.”
When asked what he personally observed on the freight train, Kapernaros replied, “On the platforms, I saw metal sheets. On all three platforms, I saw only metal sheets—nothing else.”
