Weather: Reduced rains, temperature rises – The forecast for the three-day Easter Monday

Temperatures will remain mild through Sunday with a drop from Clean Monday, when more rain will occur

The heavy rains and thunderstorms that hit the Ionian Islands, the Peloponnese, Aitoloakarnania, Epirus, the East Aegean Islands, Crete and the Dodecanese yesterday were limited. However, the weather today will remain unsettled in some areas with localized showers, mainly in the midday-afternoon hours.

Temperatures will remain mild through Sunday with a drop from Clean Monday, when more rain will occur.

High rainfall yesterday in western Greece and the eastern Aegean

Significant rainfall has occurred until the evening of Thursday 27/02 in the Ionian Islands, the western mainland and island parts of the Northeastern and Eastern Aegean. The highest rainfall until 20:00 has been recorded at the weather station in Petalia, Corfu, with 98 mm.

Today’s weather

Initially showers and localised thunderstorms are expected in areas of eastern and southern Greece, especially in the Aegean and Crete. The strongest phenomena will be located on the islands of the East Aegean, Crete and the Dodecanese. In the morning hours, the phenomena will gradually decrease in Eastern Crete. After midday, however, rain or isolated thunderstorms will occur in areas of the mainland. During the night and early morning visibility will be limited in places.

The temperature will range in Western Macedonia from 1 to 12 degrees, in the rest of northern Greece from 4 to 14-16 degrees, in Epirus and Thessaly from 6 to 16-17 degrees, in the rest of the mainland from 9 to 17-19 degrees, in the Ionian Islands from 9 to 16-17 degrees and in the Aegean islands and Crete from 9 to 16-17 degrees.

The winds will initially blow in the North Aegean from northeastern directions with intensities of up to 5 Beaufort and in the South Aegean from western directions with intensities of up to 6 Beaufort, but will gradually shift to northwestern directions with intensities of 4-5 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea the winds will blow northwest with intensities of 3-5 Beaufort.

In Attica at the beginning of the day local rain is expected which will stop by the morning. In the midday and early afternoon hours local rain or isolated thunderstorms are likely to occur. Winds will blow from the northwest with intensities of 3-4 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 10 to 17 degrees Celsius.

In Thessaloniki we expect local rain or isolated thunderstorms during the midday and early afternoon hours. Winds will blow from variable directions with intensities of 2-4 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 8 to 15 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Saturday 01-03-2025

In central and eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly and the islands of the northeastern Aegean Sea, clouds, partly cloudy with local showers. In the rest of the country a few clouds in places with the possibility of light local showers in the midday – afternoon hours. Visibility in the morning and evening hours on the mainland will be locally limited.

Winds in the west will initially be light, but from midday onwards southerly winds of 3 to 4 Beaufort will prevail. In the east the winds will blow from the north at 2 to 4 Beaufort and occasionally locally in the northern Aegean at 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly in the south. It will reach 15 to 17 degrees Celsius in most areas and in some places in the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese 18 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Sunday 02-03-2025

Local showers will occur in Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, eastern Sterea, Euboea, Ionian and Peloponnese. Visibility in the morning and evening hours in the eastern mainland will be locally limited.

In the early morning and evening hours, there will be some slight variations in the visibility in the northwestern part of the region.
Winds will blow from the east, in the west 4 to 5 Beaufort, in the east 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The temperature will not change significantly.

The weather on Easter Monday 03-03-2025

Cloudy. Rains will mainly occur in Thrace, central and eastern Macedonia, Thessaly, eastern Sterea, Peloponnese and Crete. Possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the south. A little snow will fall in the mountains of the mainland.

The winds will blow, in the west east 4 to 5 Beaufort and in the east north northeast 5 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop in the central and northern regions where it will not exceed 10 to 12 degrees Celsius. Frost will occur in places in the north in the evening hours.

In the west, the north and the eastern Aegean generally clear weather with a few local clouds. In the remaining areas clouds, partly cloudy, mainly in the eastern mainland, the Cyclades and Crete where local rain will occur. Occasional snowfall will occur in the central and southern mountain ranges.

The winds will blow, in the west east 4 to 5 Beaufort and in the east north northeast 5 to 6 and in the Aegean Sea locally 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will drop in the south. Frost will occur in places in the north in the morning and evening hours.
