Florides: Conscious alteration of my phrase by the opposition

"They wanted to portray me as someone insulting the relatives of the Tempi tragedy in relation to the backfilling," said the justice minister

The initiatives of the Ministry of Justice to facilitate the investigative inquiries concerning the Tempi case were mentioned by Mr. Giorgos Florides in his intervention in the discussion being held in the Parliament on the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee.

Florides recalled that with regulations submitted in the previous period, the use of audio documents by the judicial officials conducting the investigations was made possible, while the formation of a venue to host the trial was immediately initiated.

At the same time, the Justice Minister accused the opposition of distorting and deliberately altering his phrase in order to make him appear as an alleged insult to the victims’ relatives. “My phrase at the time was to those politicians who made reference to the backfilling. I was not talking about the relatives. But the opposition distorted my sentence as they cowardly hide behind the relatives of the Tempi tragedy,” he said.
