“The Islamic republic should develop immunity against international sanctions in order to reinforce its positions during talks over nuclear matters”, stated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the same time when the EU announced that talks between Iran and six major powers will be taking place in Geneva on the 18th of January.
Specifically, the EU statement mentioned that the US, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany, as well as Iran “will continue their negotiations in Geneva on the 18th of January, looking to further progress towards a comprehensive long-term solution to the nuclear matter and added that the “conference will take place at the level of political directors”.
Western powers have imposed sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear program, which has reduced its oil exports, boosted inflation and has led to a plunge of its national currency.
