Panathinaikos has turned OAKA into an impenetrable fortress! Not even Real Madrid could break through, as the reigning EuroLeague champions secured their ninth consecutive home victory with an emphatic 85-70 win. This triumph moves them one step closer to locking in a top-four finish and securing home-court advantage for the playoffs.

Flashbacks to Last Year’s EuroLeague Final

For Madrid, this game must have felt like déjà vu – another nightmare at the hands of Panathinaikos. But unlike last year’s EuroLeague final, where the Greens mounted a stunning comeback, this time they dominated from tip-off to final buzzer. The lead never changed hands as Panathinaikos controlled the tempo, executed their game plan flawlessly, and never allowed Los Blancos to gain any momentum.

With confidence soaring and the standings tightening, Panathinaikos now sets its sights on the huge derby clash against Olympiacos next week at SEF.

Mitoglou Shines, Balanced Attack Overwhelms Real

Dinos Mitoglou delivered perhaps his best performance of the season, stuffing the stat sheet with 15 points and 9 rebounds. But he wasn’t alone—Kendrick Nunn (18 pts, 5 rebs, 5 asts) led the scoring, while Kostas Sloukas (10 pts, 7 asts), Juancho Hernangómez (12 pts, 6 rebs), and Jerian Grant (11 pts, 9 asts) provided crucial support.

How It Happened – Total Domination from the Start

Panathinaikos came out locked in defensively, forcing Real Madrid into poor shot selection and tough possessions. The Greens capitalized with fast-break points and deadly three-point shooting, draining 4-of-5 triples in the first quarter. Hernangómez (8 points) and Nunn (9 points) set the tone, helping PAO build a double-digit lead (24-13) after 10 minutes.

The lead ballooned to +14 (33-19) early in the second quarter, but Madrid fought back, leaning on Walter Tavares (10 pts, 5/5 FG) inside. Real cut the deficit to six (33-27) with an 8-0 run, but Panathinaikos never let them get closer.

Third Quarter Surge Seals the Deal

The second half opened with a blistering 8-0 Panathinaikos run, stretching the lead to 48-33. Real responded with their own 9-0 run (48-42), but every time Madrid tried to mount a comeback, Panathinaikos answered right back.

The third quarter ended with the Greens up 63-53, and from there, they never looked back. Despite efforts from Mario Hezonja, Dzanan Musa, and Tavares, Real couldn’t find a way through Panathinaikos’ stifling defense and well-balanced attack.

OAKA Atmosphere Pushes PAO Over the Top

With 18,000 passionate fans roaring in OAKA, Panathinaikos kept the intensity high and closed out the game in style, extending the lead to 15+ points in the final minutes. The victory not only sends a message to the rest of the EuroLeague but also puts Real Madrid in a tough spot as the standings get even tighter.
