Following the announcement of former PASOK MP and deputy Minister of Culture Angela Gerekou on Thursday that she intends to run as a New Democracy candidate in the national elections of January 25, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Venizelos expressed his disappointment with PM Antonis Samaras.

In an open letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Mr. Venizelos said that he never expected New Democracy to be part in such an immoral and tasteless political act as that of Mrs Gerekou.

It should be noted that Ms. Gerekou justified in a statement roday her decision to be included in New Democracy’s ballot ticket in Corfu, saying that she felt the need to respond to Antonis Samaras’ call for a common struggle.
