Ongoing Negotiations in Doha

  • Hamas claims that Israel is attempting to introduce new proposals to undermine the existing agreement.
  • According to Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem, the group remains committed to the second phase of the agreement, which includes an end to the war and full Israeli withdrawal.
  • The negotiations with mediators in Doha, Qatar, are ongoing in an effort to bridge differences.

Israel’s Response and Humanitarian Concerns

  • Hamas demands the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Philadelphi Corridor, a security zone along the Gaza-Egypt border that was supposed to be vacated in the first phase of the agreement.
  • The group also accuses Israel of failing to implement humanitarian provisions, stating that no aid convoys have been allowed into Gaza since March 2, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Ceasefire and Hostage Talks

  • Israeli media reported that a proposal was made for the release of several hostages, both alive and deceased, in exchange for a 50-day ceasefire extension.
  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied these reports, calling them “fake news.”

With the first phase of the ceasefire officially ending on March 1, Hamas pushes for immediate talks on the next phase, while Israel prefers extending the current arrangement without committing to a full withdrawal.
