The price of gold has surpassed $3,000 an ounce for the first time, as the precious metal is a value refuge against geopolitical fears and trade wars following Donald Trump‘s threat to impose high tariffs on European alcohol imports.
Around 12:15 GMT, the gold ounce was up 2.94% reaching $3,000.85.
Yesterday, it had already broken the previous record set in late February.
