The hostage-taker in the grocery store stated he was excited to meet French president Nicolas Sarkozy, back in 2009, in French newspaper “Le Parisien”.

Amely Coulibaly was working for the French government’s program in Coca Cola and the French President was going to meet him in order to advertise the success of this program.

“I’m really pleased. I do not know what I’m going to tell him. I guess I will start by saying “hello”. I hope the President can help me find a job”, he said, in view of the visit to the newspaper.

“People in my area do not often go to Elysees. Also, Sarkozy is not very popular among young people, but this is not personal. In fact, it happens with most politicians. The fact that I get to meet him is very impressive. Like it or not, he is still the President”, added the then 27 year old.
