Israel: Security Council meets Thursday – Egypt and Qatar seek new ceasefire in Gaza

Egypt and Qatar want an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip

Newsroom March 18 04:30

Israel’s security cabinet will convene at 6 p.m. Thursday in Jerusalem, Benjamin Netanyahu announced, according to the Times of Israel, to discuss developments following the resumption of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu is expected to meet – possibly tomorrow – with all government ministers ahead of a security council meeting – to put the removal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Barr for a vote.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar are working together to push for a new ceasefire in Gaza, the Washington Post reports, citing a former Egyptian official briefed on the plan.
