A Jewel Made in Greece gathered over 7,000 visitors when it was featured at Technopolis, Athens, in February 2014, before moving to the Grand Resort Lagonissi over summer. A year onwards, the organizers have decided to feature the same event with an even larger collection of Greek jewels at the Nei Fourni gallery of Technopolis. The event showcases jewels by some of the best Greek designers.

The exhibition is the brainchild of art designer Mary Samoli, and is curated by art historian Iris Kritikou. It aims to create a platform for contemporary Greek designers as well as show a timeline of Greek jewelry from antiquity to today. For this reason, there are copies of jewels found at the National Archaeological Society, the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum, the Numismatic Museum the Alex-Mylonas Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Greek Folk Art.

Interspersed between classical collections and museum pieces are works by a plethora of young jewelers showing how far jewelry design has come in Greece.

The display is open daily from noon to 8 p.m. until Friday at the Nei Fourni gallery of Technopolis (100 Pireos Street, Gazi). Admission is free and everyone is welcome. For more info, call 210 347 5518.
