Presided over by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, and in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, the Resurrection Service and the Divine Liturgy were held at the Athens Metropolitan Cathedral in an atmosphere of deep reverence.

In the presence of hundreds of faithful, the hymn “Christ is Risen” was chanted, followed by the Resurrection Divine Liturgy, officiated by Archbishop Ieronymos.

The Resurrection was celebrated with deep reverence across Greece. In Athens’ Metropolitan Cathedral, the Resurrection Service and Divine Liturgy were held in a solemn atmosphere, presided over by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas.

Representatives of the government, the president of PASOK – KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, members of the opposition, Armed Forces, Security Services, and local authorities were among those present at the Resurrection Service.

In the Church of Saint Spyridon on Eratosthenous Street in Pangrati, the faithful gathered in large numbers to celebrate the Resurrection with devotion. From early on Holy Saturday evening, people began to gather in the courtyard, holding candles—and the younger ones, their decorated Paschal lamps. Just after midnight, the call “Come, receive the light” rang out, followed by the joyful “Christ is Risen,” bringing jubilation to the neighborhood.

In Thessaloniki, the message of the Resurrection was proclaimed in all churches, filled to capacity with worshippers. The bells rang joyfully, and the hymn “Christ is Risen” echoed throughout the city. At the Metropolitan Church of Saint Gregory Palamas, the service was led by Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki, who stated in his message: “There is no sound more wondrous than this.” He urged the faithful to remain for the Resurrection Divine Liturgy, so they could become, as he said, “eyewitnesses of the Risen Christ.”

In Corfu, at the Church of Saint Constantine of Nymfes, the grandeur of the Resurrection was captured by the lens of Eurokinissi. Fireworks and glowing candles filled the night sky, creating a solemn and celebratory atmosphere.

Across Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, and Nafplio, the spirit of Easter was alive—marked by reverence, light, and joy.

The Resurrection Service at the Metropolitan Church of Saint George in Nafplio was led by Metropolitan Nektarios of Argolis. In an atmosphere of deep devotion on Holy Saturday night, the Metropolitan chanted “Christ is Risen” to the joyful sound of church bells ringing across Nafplio.

A large crowd of faithful had gathered in the church early to attend the Resurrection Service. At midnight, as the lights dimmed in the Metropolitan Church of Saint George—just as in churches throughout Greece—Metropolitan Nektarios appeared at the Royal Doors, holding in each hand a bundle of thirty-three candles lit with the Holy Light, and chanting: “Come, receive the Light…”

Following this, clergy, chanters, and the congregation moved outside to the church courtyard, where the Gospel of the Resurrection was read aloud, completing the sacred celebration of Pascha.
