SYRIZA leader A. Tsipras: Highlights of interview on ANT1

“We need unity and prudence” says the leader of SYRIZA

Main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader Alexis Tsipras spoke in an interview with private ANT1 TV where he ruled out any collaboration after the elections with the socialist PASOK party, newly-founded KIDISO or centrist To Potami and said that if his party did not gather enough votes to form a government. He said, however, that his party was open to collaboration with anyone accepting its Thessaloniki platform with the exception of forces “that led the country to its catastrophe.”

– SYRIZA is open to political forces that accept the immediate implementation of the party’s program.

– He said that the party’s intention was “not to divide Greeks but to unite them”, adding that the next day would be difficult.

– He said Greece needed to be unfettered domestically so as to enter European negotiations from a position of power.

– There will be no Troika or memorandums and commitments to lenders, the day after elections.

– Mr. Tsipras urged for all negotiations with lenders to end as soon as possible.

– He reiterated that his party did not accept austerity.

– He said doses were late in 2012 but Greece didn’t go bankrupt.

– The party aims to find a sustainable solution on the issue of public debt

– Thousands of households are at risk of release of auctions.

– He said that he was not saying that “There is money.”

– SYRIZA will alleviate the low and middle classes and at the same time will deal with tax evaders, smugglers and those who have large incomes.

– Mr. Tsipras repeated his pledge that Greece would abolish ENFIA and would set the tax-free threshold at 12,000 euros.
