What Bulgaria’s entry into the euro from January 1 means – what the example of Greece shows

  • Measures related to the Household Basket.
  • The mandatory disclosure of price increases and fresh produce pricing.
  • The ban on discounts and promotions for products that were price-hiked in the previous three months.

In his statement, Minister Theodorikakos emphasized that these measures have been a key tool for market oversight and consumer protection.

“This is a particularly strict measure, and through market inspections, it has significantly contributed to lowering inflation in food and essential goods,” he noted, adding:
“Greece currently has the lowest inflation in the Eurozone in this area, especially over the past five months.”

He also announced that the Ministry of Development has prepared a new framework of structural reforms aimed at consumer protection and market oversight, which will be presented at the next Cabinet meeting.
