High temperatures and increased dust concentrations are expected at least until Friday 09/05, according to the latest forecast data from meteo.gr / National Observatory of Athens.
The atmospheric circulation that will prevail in the Eastern Mediterranean will result in the transfer of warm air masses rich in Saharan dust towards Greece. Atmospheric instability will be limited and will bring local showers mainly in the central and northern areas today Tuesday 06/05.
These warm air masses will be up to 8-10 °C warmer than average. The height of 1500 meters is used to study temperature changes in the lower part of the atmosphere. The final temperature configuration near the ground depends on a number of factors such as the presence/absence of clouds and phenomena and wind.
The dust will persist through Friday with the highest concentrations Wednesday and Thursday, Thodoros Kolydas said in a post. “Temperatures will reach 30 to 31 degrees Celsius, while locally in northern Crete they will probably exceed them in the middle of the week. Instability will be limited mainly in the north from Wednesday,” the Star meteorologist wrote in X.
For two bouts of Lebanese heat with dust, mud showers, humidity and 35s, Giorgos Tsatrafillas speaks in his forecast.
“Warm air masses from the African continent (Libyan coast) have already started their transfer to the eastern Mediterranean. They will also affect our country by the end of the week with essentially two warm spells.
Tuesday-Wednesday
Mud showers and midday showers in central and northern Greece.
32-33 degrees in Thessaly, Boeotia, Fthiotida, Crete (locally and above in northern Crete)
Attica 30, Thessaloniki 28
Increased concentration of African dust in the west and south.
Friday – Saturday
Mud showers and midday showers in northern Greece.
32-33 degrees in Peloponnese, Aitoloakarnania, Boeotia, Evia, Fthiotida, Crete (locally up to 35 in northern Crete).
