Visit Madrid’s… Egyptian temple!

A beautiful piece of Foreign Antiquity, gifted to Spain

Newsroom January 23 12:57

It is dated to 4th century B.C. and was enjoying its time along the Nile until 1971.

It was gifted to the Spanish government and transferred by ship to Valencia, and then Madrid.

Two tall, narrow corridors lead to the main temple, while the western corridor contains hieroglyphics.

The main level of the museum accompanying the exhibit contains a chronicle of photographs which show the history of the temple itself, its transportation to Spain and its rebuilding in the Spanish capital.

The temple is spectacularly illuminated at night, with the whole building reflected against the water’s surface.

It is next to a huge pool in a park with an amazing view in the Almudena Cathedral and the city of Madrid.

The park proper surrounding the Egyptian temple is one of the best places to enjoy the sunset and take pictures to keep the memory alive.

Buses numbered 74,25,33,39,46,74,75,148 and the Madrid subway will lead you to the temple at the Plaza de España stop.

The temple is closed every Monday and on national holidays.
