U.S. President Barack Obama wants to keep around 10 thousand U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the main forces remaining in the country since 2001, when it was taken over, chasing away the Taliban, according to the Associated Press.
However, the number is expected to be determined from a defense agreement between the two countries, without the signing of which there will be a withdrawal of each American soldier from the Asian country. It should be noted that the U.S. wanted the agreement to be signed prior to former Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s end of term, however, the latter insisted that the agreement should be signed by his successor, who will be elected in the second round of presidential elections to be held on April 5th.
