An exceptionally impressive video was created with the help of technology, presenting the Parthenon as it was at its peak, in 432 BC.

Juan de Lara, a professor at the University of Oxford, combined primary sources, astronomical data, and advanced CGI technologies to create a stunning three-dimensional reconstruction of the Parthenon in its prime. In fact, as it appears, the digital “engine” Unreal Engine II was used— the same one behind some of today’s most advanced video games.

However, his approach is not limited to form. He draws from the fields of history, art, and religious experience to shed light on the temple’s function as a place of faith, wonder, and cultural radiance. The fact that the researcher specializes in the intercultural influence of the Hellenistic world on the East lends his work a multilayered and meaningful perspective.
