Following the announcement of the exit polls results at 19.00 (local time) international media from all over the world reported that SYRIZA is set to achieve a clear victory with a strong lead over New Democracy.
From Italian Ansa agency and German Sueddeutsche Zeitung to BBC and the Guardian, media from all over the world have been watching closely the critical election battle.
Specifically, Reuters reports that SYRIZA looks set for a comfortable victory over New Democracy, underlining that Alexis Tsipras’ party may win up to 39.5% of the vote and achieve an absolute majority.
“If it ends up short of an absolute majority, Tsipras will have to try to form a coalition with smaller parties,” the report underlines.
The view that SYRIZA is set for a sweeping victory is also shared by BBC.
Noting that it is still unclear whether Syriza has enough votes to govern the country alone, the agency’s correspondent Chris Morris says the party is heading for a famous victory.
Handelsblatt says the exit polls results suggest “a clear victory for Tsipras” while the Italian Ansa agency reports that SYRIZA is sure to emerge as the winner of the elections.
