The new version of Research.com’s list of the world’s top scientists for the year 2024, based on H&D-indexes and their scientific achievements, has been published. The University of the Aegean is represented by 15 members, an increase compared to previous reporting years (9 members for 2023 and 7 members for 2022).

Based on the results, the University of the Aegean confirms in the most convincing way that it is a quality pole of research and science in the Greek and international academic landscape. As it turns out, excellence does not depend on the size of the institution, but on the quality and international impact of research output, while interdisciplinarity and collaboration between departments are key drivers of progress.

The University of the Aegean is particularly distinguished in ‘Ecology & Evolution’, with the presence of 6 researchers with 775 publications and a total D-Index of 248. In this category, the university is ranked 334th worldwide and 2nd in Greece.

It should be noted that the D-Index is an index for rating universities, evaluating various aspects such as research, teaching, staff or campus. In addition, it can be used to measure how dependent authors are on their research environment.

Very high international and national positions are held by Professors such as Katsanevakis and Petanidou.
