Eurosceptic candidate Carol Navrocki, 42, has emerged by a completely narrow margin as the winner of the second round of the presidential election held yesterday Sunday in Poland, the electoral commission announced a short while ago – handing a heavy defeat to the centrist government of Donald Tusk, a former European Council president and staunch European.

Carol Navrocki, backed by the Law and Justice Party (PiS) of outgoing president Andrei Duda, received 50.89% of the vote, while his rival Rafal Traskowski, 53, mayor of Warsaw, a staunch EU supporter and ally of Tusk’s centrist government, received 49.11%.
