Nikos Dendias in France on Wednesday for the launching ceremony of the 3rd FDI frigate HS Formion

The Greek Minister of Defence, Nikos Dendias, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff, General Demetrios Houpis, and the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Demetrios-Etheltherios Kataras, will travel to France tomorrow, Wednesday 4 June, where he will attend the launching ceremony of the frigate HS Formion.

With the launch of the 3rd FDI frigate, the initial order for the purchase of the first three Belh@rra (FDI) is entering its final stage as their delivery is expected to be completed in 2026.

The HS Kimon frigate, completed the first stage of sea trials a few days ago and is scheduled to be delivered to the navy in December, to be followed by the HS Nearchos and HS Formion frigates in the spring and autumn of next year.

After the summer, HS Kimon is expected to travel to Brest to receive her weapons and conduct test firings. She will then sail to the Salamis Naval Station.
